Michael Reese on the Guitar

The Bluegrass Lounge Presents Famed, Colorado Guitarist Michael Reese. It's always our pleasure to be hosting this electric magician, who has been a Colorado guitar hero for decades. Live, Michael Reese is a constant surprise of virtuosity, reminiscent of Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eric Clapton, and Santana––and his signature style which can be best described as a blend of rock, blues, jazz, and ambient. “Overall great guitar playing has always inspired me,” Reese says. Additionally, much of his music has been inspired by his treks in nature, relationships, and the desire to be emotionally expressive through his guitars. His fans often walk away from his performances inspired and uplifted. Michael's gifts and his creativity have been recognized over and over. In 1995, he was nominated as “Best Guitarist of the Year" at the prestigious Los Angeles Music Awards for his work on his first solo album, Dragonflyer. Later the same year, he performed in the Tommy Bolin Tribute Concert and was named an Official Fender Endorsee by Fender Musical Instruments, Inc. In 1996, Reese formed the band F-5 with former Joe Walsh keyboardist Tommy Stephenson and Peter Frampton's former bass player, Stan Sheldon. Their first album, Dodging the Dream Killers, was produced by famed Santana drummer, Michael Shrieve. It was nominated by Jazz Central Station as one of the top ten jazz albums of the year. Michael and his bands have opened for such rock luminaries as Johnny Winter, Edgar Winter, John Mellencamp, Huey Lewis, Robben Ford, John Mayall, Alice Cooper and Steve Morse, guitarist for the Dixie Dregs and Deep Purple. Early in his career, Michael established himself as the finest guitarist ever to come out of Colorado. Before long, he was playing with such legends as Keith Emerson, of Emerson, Lake and Palmer, Mick Fleetwood, a founding member of Fleetwood Mac, and Mitch Mitchell, the drummer who kept the beat for The Jimi Hendrix Experience. Michael has performed at Copper Mountain's annual Guitar Town Festival, along with such luminaries as Duane Eddie, and John Gorgenson. He has also played at the Gerald Ford Amphitheatre in Vail, Colorado. He has been featured in Guitar World Magazine in the 2010 Holiday issue, demoing the new Super-Vee Blade Runner Tremolo System. Reese has done extensive work in the studio, playing on national commercials, feature film scores, Discovery Channel documentaries, ski movie icon Warren Miller's Snowriders, and an upcoming IMAX film. His film credits include: For Hire, starring Rob Lowe and Joe Montagna; Bleeders, with Rutger Hauer; and Rainbow, featuring Dan Akroyd and Bob Hoskins. In each of these films, he worked with the highly regarded film composer Alan Reeves. Recently, Michael has been in the studio creating new music for upcoming CD projects, including his sixth solo album, Spirit Machine, and the debut of his new band, Michael Reese and Spirit Machine. Michael Reese will appear at The Bluegrass Lounge, 7415 Grandview Ave., Arvada, CO 80002. For information call: 720-476-3950.
